20世紀20年代，當時被稱為“魔都”的上海黑暗墮落。各方勢力匯聚于此，暗潮涌動，政局動蕩不安。沉默的男人斯蒂芬（克勞斯•金斯基 Klaus Kinski 飾）帶著青春美麗的少女O（Isabelle Illiers 飾）來到上海。他深知O對自己至純至真的愛戀，卻十分吝嗇哪怕一丁點的情感。他親手將O送入妓院春桃樓，這里云集著各國的妓女以及來自社會各階層骯臟、下流、變態的嫖客。清純的O在隔壁斯蒂芬的偷窺下被迫墮落，只求得到愛人的歡心。春桃樓對面飯館內的男孩王學迷上了O。他想盡辦法湊錢，只為與這個沉默的女孩同床共枕。當兩人雨水歡愉之時，斯蒂芬悲哀的發現，O的心也許正離自己遠去…… 本片根據《O娘的故事》改編。

In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
