「ぼくが処刑される未來」を手がけた監督の小中和哉と、「ほんとにあった怖い話」などで知られる腳本家?小中千昭の兄弟がタッグを組んで送り出したダークファンタジー。父親から虐待を受け続け、生きる希望を失い、失意の中にあった女子高生?美以那の前に、謎の美女?苓が現れる。苓は「ヘマトフィリア（血液耽溺者）」を自稱し、生きるに値しない男たちを殺し、その血をすすっていた。すっかり傷ついていた美以那は、苓に導かれて少女から大人へと成長していく。そんな苓と美以那に、美しきバンパイアの影が忍び寄る。苓役を「ぼくが処刑される未來」の中丸シオン、美以那役を「西の魔女が死んだ」の高橋真悠がそれぞれ演じ、初めてのヌードやラブシーンにも挑戦した。

Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
