Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　胡家莊年味漸淡，寒暑異常，舞獅少年羅川跳脫飛揚，異想天開，夢想把舞獅技藝發揚光大，卻常常弄巧成拙，所到之處雞飛狗跳，被村民視為“掃把星”，是村長胡長禮眼中的“危險分子”。年獸小五意外降臨人間，大鬧村莊，勾走了傳家寶——獅頭。羅川為找回獅頭，和下凡捉年獸的鼠仙阿細相識，兩人逐漸發現年獸并不可怕，可以和人類做朋友，但胡長禮愛村心切，被噬靈妖蠱惑，遁入瘋魔，制造了一場針對年獸的陰謀，最終羅川和阿細聯合村民，打敗了噬靈妖，喚醒了胡長禮，胡家莊重歸熱鬧，眾人歡歡喜喜迎接春節到來。
