　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

　　故事發(fā)生在一個電腦科技極為發(fā)達的年代，一名科學家發(fā)明了一個殺人程序協(xié)助警方辦案，其中集結了數(shù)百名連環(huán)殺手的資料和他們的作案手法。這個程序是如此的邪惡，最后不僅生成了個人意志，更擁有了人類的外表和可以隨時修復任意損傷的特殊能力，它從禁錮中逃脫了出來，在世間作惡。　　為了捕捉這位邪惡的“兇手”，警方設計了一個追蹤儀器，罪犯帕克（丹澤爾·華盛頓 Denzel Washington 飾）被選中成為了儀器的試驗品。帕克曾經(jīng)亦是一名警察，卻因為動用私刑殺死了讓他家破人亡的殺手而被免除了職務打入大牢。而讓帕克感到在意的是，在殺人程序中，亦有當年殺害他家人的那名殺手的存在。
