20世紀(jì)80年代，青年學(xué)生雄介（染谷將太 飾）和好友從東京來到鄉(xiāng)下觀測(cè)天文，在這里邂逅了鄉(xiāng)村醫(yī)生周吾（菅田俊 飾）及其姐妹花女兒朋代和愁子，他們度過了一個(gè)愉快的夏天。　再次見面時(shí)，姐妹倆不約而同喜歡上了雄介（石田一成 飾），個(gè)性開朗的愁子（佐藤藍(lán)子 飾）大膽表白，兩人從此走到一起。朋代（小島可奈子 飾）為了妹妹和愛人的幸福，只得將這份愛意深深埋藏。數(shù)年后，愁子罹患乳腺疾病，生如殘燭。臨終前她囑托雄介將自己的骨灰做成瓷壺，雄介完成了她的遺愿。壺身上卻有一滴眼淚般的紅色痕跡，故得名淚壺。　妹妹的離去時(shí)朋代心中熄滅已久的愛火再次點(diǎn)燃，但她卻陷入了愛戀和內(nèi)疚的矛盾之中 　根據(jù)渡邊淳一同名小說改編。
