清朝末年，世道紛亂。八旗子弟烏世保（陳道明 飾）沒(méi)能襲得爵位，終日走街串巷，游手好閑。某天在天橋一帶，他遇見(jiàn)當(dāng)年府上的旗奴徐煥章（馬和平 飾）。徐小人得志，趾高氣揚(yáng)，被世保當(dāng)街訓(xùn)斥，從此種下禍端。及至八國(guó)聯(lián)軍殺入北京城，徐因會(huì)說(shuō)幾句日語(yǔ)當(dāng)上偵緝隊(duì)隊(duì)長(zhǎng)，遂公報(bào)私仇，將世保定下死罪。烏妻四處奔走，令世保暫脫一死。坐牢期間，世保結(jié)識(shí)古月軒鼻煙兒壺制造名家聶小軒。聶為免手藝失傳，將一身絕學(xué)過(guò)給世保。不久，世保重獲自由，卻得知妻子受辱自盡，家破人亡。最終他住進(jìn)師傅家中，與師妹柳娘（李殿馨 飾）共同繼承了古月軒的手藝……                                                                    本片根據(jù)鄧友梅的小說(shuō)《煙壺》改編。

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
