八旗子弟
清朝末年，世道紛亂。八旗子弟烏世保（陳道明 飾）沒能襲得爵位，終日走街串巷，游手好閑。某天在天橋一帶，他遇見當年府上的旗奴徐煥章（馬和平 飾）。徐小人得志，趾高氣揚，被世保當街訓斥，從此種下禍端。及至八國聯軍殺入北京城，徐因會說幾句日語當上偵緝隊隊長，遂公報私仇，將世保定下死罪。烏妻四處奔走，令世保暫脫一死。坐牢期間，世保結識古月軒鼻煙兒壺制造名家聶小軒。聶為免手藝失傳，將一身絕學過給世保。不久，世保重獲自由，卻得知妻子受辱自盡，家破人亡。最終他住進師傅家中，與師妹柳娘（李殿馨 飾）共同繼承了古月軒的手藝…… 本片根據鄧友梅的小說《煙壺》改編。

In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
