一個三十多歲的男子在大城市謀生，為了走出混亂的生活，無意識地想象出一個幻想與現實并存的世界。

 故事發生在加州酒店之中。著名演員戴安娜（瑪吉·史密斯 Maggie Smith 飾）和丈夫西德尼入住酒店，戴安娜獲得了奧斯卡金像獎的提名，信心滿滿的她相信自己一定能夠獲獎，哪知道事與愿違，憤怒的戴安娜只想著趕緊離開這個讓她感到傷心的地方。漢娜（簡·方達 Jane Fonda 飾）帶著女兒也住在酒店之中，她此行的目的是和同自己離婚已久的前夫比爾（阿倫·阿爾達 Alan Alda 飾）見面。女兒煩透了母親的獨斷專決，希望能夠留在這里和父親生活一段時間。馬文（沃爾特·馬修 Walter Matthau 飾）比妻子早一天入住了酒店，哪知道自己的好哥們居然送了自己以為金發美人作為大禮。

　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
