Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 洪金寶,鐘鎮濤,王祖賢,梁珊,曹查理,陳友在一家珠寶貿易公司工作的肥丁（洪金寶）因是胖仔外加做人老實，常被老板娘周太（梁珊）和其弟（曹查理）騎在頭上，重活臟活全要攬下不說，工作稍微出點錯就會被罵得狗血淋頭。一日，他和在貨運部工作的同事阿B（鐘鎮濤）一起按老板吩咐送鉆石給中東酋長，之后將所收錢款送往銀行的途中遭劫，周太和其弟不問青紅誣告兩人與劫匪是同伙。 越想越來氣的肥丁決定綁架周太以泄壓抑已久的怒火。在他準備行動之時，周家剛從美國歸來的女兒祖兒（王祖賢）正同后母周太發生激烈的爭吵，結果陰差陽錯祖兒被他綁架，之后又被阿B綁至家中。肥丁在阿B的逼迫下無奈向周家索要贖金，一時笑料百出。
