影片改編自大衛·格蘭所著暢銷書《Killers of the Flower Moon：The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI》，聚焦1920年代的美國俄克拉何馬州，“歐塞奇族印第安人謀殺案”（Osage Indian Mur ders）。當年歐塞奇族人因原居地發現油礦而獲得持續巨額收入，有人為阻止上述安排而策劃連環謀殺，4年間60人被殺，震驚全國。為此當年美國政府成立“調查局”（即FBI聯邦調查局前身）跨部門調查，揭發維護歐塞奇族人權益的“歐塞奇監護人計劃”原來極度腐敗；最后即使在大量證據下，亦只有少數的謀殺案獲得起訴。

In late August 1939, Sally stands on the shore at Dover and takes her first step into the English Channel. She swims across the open and icy sea for 15 hours, waving to the Navy who are readying for war. A couple of days after Sally swims ashore at Calais, Poland is invaded.
