　　本片講述了性格火辣爽直的李雙雙（張瑞芳 飾）愛管閑事，對(duì)自私愛貪生產(chǎn)隊(duì)便宜的人直言快語(yǔ)當(dāng)面指責(zé)。她的丈夫?qū)O喜旺（仲星火 飾）卻和她相反，膽小怕事愛面子還大男子主義。生產(chǎn)隊(duì)修水渠，李雙雙和幾個(gè)閑著在家沒事的婦女去參加勞動(dòng)，喜旺大為惱火叫李雙雙在家做飯看孩子伺候他。為此，兩 人大吵了一架。雙雙向生產(chǎn)隊(duì)提意見，反應(yīng)對(duì)婦女評(píng)工分計(jì)分混亂不認(rèn)真，又向公社黨委揭發(fā)當(dāng)記工員的喜旺、副隊(duì)長(zhǎng)金樵(劉非 飾）和社員孫有（崔文順 飾）干活不負(fù)責(zé)任、投機(jī)取巧多記工分。她被群眾選上了婦女隊(duì)長(zhǎng)后，喜旺怕以后管不了雙雙，給她約法三章，雙雙不答應(yīng)，喜旺生氣離家趕著馬車去搞運(yùn)輸了。孫有夫婦攀高枝要把女兒桂英嫁到城里去，桂英早有喜歡的人了，跑去找雙雙幫忙把來相親的對(duì)象打發(fā)走。孫有老婆找到雙雙大鬧，正好讓剛回家的喜旺碰上，喜旺再次生氣離家......　　本片曾于1963年獲第2屆《大眾電影》百花獎(jiǎng)最佳故事片獎(jiǎng)、最佳編劇獎(jiǎng)，最佳女演員獎(jiǎng)，最佳配角獎(jiǎng)。
