鄭明寶（鄭丹瑞 飾）是香港某電臺播報豬肉價格的DJ，他的朋友陳七本想托他走私藥品，沒想到鄭明寶把事情搞砸，害得他鋃鐺入獄。鄭明寶無意中得到了一把雨傘，并由此結識了冥間女鬼方茵（陶君薇 飾），為此，鄭明寶專門做了一檔晚間鬼故事的節目，由方茵現身說法，收聽率居高不下，連當紅DJ蕾莎（顧美華 飾）也對他另眼相看，暗送秋波。 節目中，方茵講述了自己的一段被負心漢欺騙、慘遭情敵迫害致死的過程。原來，她本是從南洋來香港接管廣昌隆飯店的女繼承人，偶然見邂逅了警察馬光燊（吳大維 飾），并墮入愛河。但是，馬光燊其實是個花花公子，幾次三番傷害了方茵純潔的感情。特別是當他的情婦（青山知可子 飾）登堂入室后，更是把傷心欲絕的方茵逼上了絕路……

In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
