墨彩寧（張善南 飾）是一名普通的高中學生，因為班主任（王天宇 飾）就是自家小姨，所以自己的一舉一動都逃不過小姨的法眼，平日只好偽裝成乖乖學生，但本質上卻是一個不折不扣的追星達人。轉校生顧天琦（李明源 飾）的到來讓她本來平靜的生活發生了巨大轉變，她發現這位引人注目的同桌竟是偶像顧云凡（區天瑞 飾）的親弟弟，在顧天琦的囑咐下，墨彩寧答應保守住這個秘密。可特殊身份的消息還是不脛而走，也因此與閨蜜張公主（郭素潔 飾）產生了誤會，為了能讓張公主不再難過、顧天琦不再轉學，墨彩寧與同學袁遲（范云飛 飾）、同學童輝（李炎峰 飾）等人團結一心解決了困擾。在相處中，墨彩寧決心要成為像顧天琦一樣優秀的人。轉眼到了寒假，在盛大的煙花下大家樹立了各自的人生目標，帶著珍貴的友誼走向憧憬的未來……

在將軍德川家齊統治下的文政年間，老中水野忠成與水野忠邦在幕府內展開激烈的權力斗爭。此時，攜帶名刀“無想正宗”的神秘浪人眠狂四郎（長谷川博己 飾）現身江戶，并受忠邦的親信之命，暗中刺殺刺客。被他斬殺的刺客頸上佩戴著象征基督信仰的念珠。隨后，狂四郎將此物交還給刺客的妹妹靜香，引發信徒與豪商備前屋的反擊，雙方為守護與暗殺而對立。另一方面，大目付松平主水正也奉忠成之命，派遣劍豪追殺狂四郎。權謀與信仰交織，一場錯綜復雜的生死之戰即將展開。

物語は1970年代、桐島の大學時代から始まる。反日武裝戦線の活動に共鳴して行動をともにしていた彼は、1974年の三菱重工爆破事件で多數の犠牲者を出したことにより、深い葛藤にさいなまれる。警察當局の捜査が進んで組織が壊滅狀態になる中、指名手配された桐島は偽名を使って逃亡。やがて工務店での住み込みの職と靜かな生活を手にした桐島は、ライブハウスで歌手キーナと知り合う。
