和許多美國的年輕人一樣，雪莉（凱瑟琳·沃特斯頓 Katherine Waterston 飾）得靠自己的勞動賺取學費。一次工作中，漂亮的雪莉居然被雇主貝爾德蘭（約翰·雷吉扎莫 John Leguizamo 飾）吻了。為了安慰和補償雪莉，貝爾德蘭給了雪莉更多的報酬，而從此之中，精明的雪莉看出了商機。 為了獲取更多的利益，雪莉和開始了和雇主之間的不道德的交往，不僅如此，她還鼓動了亦有此意的同學和伙伴“入行”，并且靠牽線搭橋收取傭金。而正當雪莉的“事業”經營的風生水起之時，麻煩也不期而至。雪莉暗戀著的男生發現了雪莉的秘密并為之不齒，同時，雪莉手下的“雇員”們也漸漸的脫離了這位雇主的掌控開始私下接活，站在道德和利益的交叉口，雪莉會做出怎樣的選擇呢？
